Brought my car in because it was overheating. They changed several parts, but the car still overheated. Mechanic said I must have damaged the motor and that it would probably need the head ground down and possibly some other work to cost at least $1,500. I was billed $620 as it was, negotiated it down to $500 and took the unfixed car home. A neighborhood backyard mechanic promptly found the problem for me. The water pump needed to be replaced. The car runs great now. NOTE: The professional mechanic offered to buy my car from me when I looked stunned at the $1,500 estimate that he gave me for additional work (grind the head flat). Naturally, I'm glad I didn't agree to let Depot Service do any further work. The backyard mechanic diagnosed the problem by simply disconnecting the radiator hose. When no fluid was being forced through the hose, he suspected the blades that spin inside the water pump were not turning or broken. He was right. Depot should have known. They had my car 4.5 days.
