Provided by YP.comI bought 4 new tires for my AWD car. Made sure to tell clerk not to over-tighten lugs. He said that they ALWAYS hand tighten lugs. Had tires installed and when driving away had huge vibration in steering wheel.
Next day, took car back. They said I needed Front End Alignment. I said "fine" but re-balance the tires too...and 100 ft-lbs max on the lugs.
They aligned and front tires went to the back in the car...not sure if they were re-balanced.
Checked lugs at home. I have 10o ft-lb max torque wrench EVERY LUG was higher than 150 ft-lbs. I needed a breaker bar to free all of the nuts. I then set proper torque.
While on vacation, car still had light vibration, and started making occasional rumble strip sounds that lasted maybe a second...always at very low speeds and when accelerating. Car also made some light clicking sounds that were audible at low speeds with no road noise.
When home. I took car to my mechanic. He looked for cause of noise and vibration....and found nothing but a bent rim that caused tire wobble and maybe more. He said - fix rim first and if problem persists...then return.
I watched the rim repair place examine the rim. A blind man could wee that it was out of round when tire was spun.
After rim straightened...No Problems remained.
So why didn't Dean's tire Experts (?) see a bent rim that a novice like me could see?. They had 2 spinning opportunities to do so.
And why did they torque down lug nits so that a breaker bar is needed to change a tire? Especially when I asked them to tighten to spec.
I wasted money and time on a small problem that ant tire service business should have seen immediately. And over-tightening the lugs is irresponsible. Being unable to change a flat can be a very big problem.

Provided by YP.comChuck is a great guy to work with. He kept me informed with timely updates the entire time he had my vehicle. Even though it took a little longer than expected due to the nature of the mechanical issue, he provided a loaner car for a very surprisingly low rate. It saved my wife and I a lot of headaches since we only had one other car. I have an older Jeep and I know that things can get weird when a vehicle has over 175k miles, but he fixed it! Chuck even had me drive it for a while before I paid to make sure I was happy with the job. Respect bud!
