Amy Chitwood Burslem LAc, is a graduate of the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. She is nationally certified in Chinese herbal medicine, and has studied Japanese medicine and acupuncture for pain management. In 2008, Amy  founded the Portland Acupuncture Blog, an online blog to educate the public about the benefits of acupuncture.

Amy lived in Ulsan, South Korea for three years, where she first learned about the art of acupuncture and saw firsthand the benefits of the medicine. Amy’s interest in helping women in all phases of life is what brought her to acupuncture and herbal medicine. Her personal experience with acupuncture is what led her to the path of becoming a healer.

Amy worked in the research department at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. She assisted with studies on the effects of acupuncture in endometriosis, and fatigue in patients with multiple sclerosis.

Amy is NADA (National Acupuncture and Detoxification Association) trained, and has experience working in both hospitals and drug and alcohol recovery centers. Amy is a Usui Reiki practitioner, and is a certified One Thousand Hands Buddha Qigong instructor.

Amy received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia. A native Oregonian, Amy enjoys hiking with her husband Joel, gardening, running and cooking. She holds a black belt in the Korean martial art Hapkido.
