Shunned away.... I first called to see if they are still serving lunch and they said on the phone "Yes, until 4pm, and the price changes" and so I gladly said "I'll be there in 10 minutes". I arrived at 3:44pm and the cashier at the counter told me that I must pay for the dinner price. "I thought it is still lunch prices?" I asked politely, she then said yes but you have to pay for dinner price. Made no sense why she said prices won't change until 4pm but I get there over 15 minutes early to eat one thing and she forces me to pay the dinner price and I only eat one thing there. Needless to say I let for somewhere else and tipped the waiter at another place $20 bucks instead of here.

When my husband and I first moved to Portland from the bay area we searched out all of the Indian restaurants as it is one of our favorite types of foods. When Namaste moved into the old Steamers Restaurant on Sandy we were cautiously excited. And, when they finally opened and we went for the first time we were elated as the food is simply some of the best we have found in Portland and now we eat there at least once a week. They have a buffet for lunch and dinner but if there is something you might like which is not on the buffet they graciously will bring it from the kitchen at your request. Their veggie pakoras are some of the best I've had and the buffet is quite abundant with usually more than you can ever want or desire for a meal. Complete with mango ice cream for dessert (among other sweets).

I highly recommend this restaurant and am so delighted that we can stay in our own neighborhood and give up our search! By the way, you can also order from the menu if you prefer, the buffet is not mandatory.
