Thank you a child's dream

Laurie Shelton with a child's dream was absolutely amazing she made the adoption process the hardest decision I have ever made along with my child's birth father easy right from the beginning she answered all our concerns and took away all worries and stayed with me through surgery and birth she is by far the most professional person with a huge heart and truly cares thank you again for people like Laurie

Arizona caseworker Laurie

As adoptive parents, we have completed two successful domestic open adoptions, including one through A Child's Dream. When adopting a baby boy in Arizona our caseworker with A Child's Dream, Laurie, was absolutely amazing. She was warm, knowledgeable, and professional. She was very communicative and we could reach her via email, SMS, or phone. She was very kind and helpful to everyone involved - birth family, adoptive family, and our two young children. She also served as a great resource for the Phoenix area, recommending places to stay, things to do, and how to stay cool during the hot summer. We could not have completed our adoption without Laurie's help, and she made the whole thing smooth. Highly recommend working with her if you can.

Very pleased with our experience

We are so thankful to so many people who made our dream of becoming parents a reality! Our beautiful baby boy fills us with so much love and joy everyday and we are fortunate to have formed a great relationship with his birthmother. Laurie at ACD was wonderful to work with. When we arrived in AZ, we had no idea what to expect - but Laurie made us feel at ease and kept us very informed throughout the adoption process. Laurie was caring, always available, honest, very open, truly loving and was very sensitive to our son's birthmother's needs. She was present when we needed her, but also gave us the space we all needed to bond and get to really know one another before our son was born. We are forever grateful and hope to have the opportunity to work with Laurie again when we are ready to expand our family.

Best Decision We Ever Made

Adopting a baby can feel like the scariest experience ever. Mountains of paperwork. So much out of your control. The waiting. And waiting. However, with a *fantastic* social worker like Laurie and the rest of the staff at A Child's Dream, our experience was truly a dream. Laurie helped us navigate the entire experience, from prior to the birth all the way through placement. She was professional, warm and extremely knowledgable. My husband and I were thrilled at her openness, her attention to detail and the ease with which she facilitated our adoption. She met us in person when we flew out to meet the birth mom and the baby. She helped us in the hospital and answered all our questions. She met with us in the days following placement and even coordinated a lunch with the birth mom which we were thrilled about. We adopted the most beautiful, precious baby boy who has been the biggest blessing we could have ever hoped or prayed for. We will never be able to adequately express our appreciation to Laurie and everyone at A Child's Dream for making our dream of having a family come true.

Developed longtime friendships

I dealt with Kristi mostly and have developed a long term friendship with the agency. They've been around for over a decade to my knowledge (or since I first met with them). I think that speaks volumes of their integrity and professionalism with their clients. Kristi has always kept it professional yet adds that personal feeling like you're dealing with friends in this company. It's made the experience much more comfortable. I know I can always call with questions or just to catch up over the years with them. They've become very special and dear to my heart. I have always believed I made the right decision and I truly believe they paved the way for such a wonderful experience for the baby, the baby's family, and myself.

wonderful experience by hollie

My case worker (Gina) is an amazing woman. She is very patient and can put up with just about anything. Everyone in the agency treated you with the utmost respect and dignity. The families that I have chosen for my children are amazing. They get in touch with me whenever possible and I’m basically a long distance member of their family. A Childs Dream went over all of my options and helped me to make the right decision. I would recommend this agency to anyone that may ever need their services, whether they are putting their child up for adoption or planning to adopt. I wouldn’t go to anyone else

Outstanding Experience

We have been more than thrilled with our experience with A Child's Dream. They helped us with our successful adoption and making our dreams come true. We had many questions about the process once we were matched. The staff at A Child's Dream helped us navigate through everything and made sure we were comfortable with every detailed and sometimes confusing aspect. Our calls were returned immediately, our emails answered thoroughly. Because of our experience with A Child's Dream, we deeply believe it is why we had such a smooth adoption and continue to now, more than a year after our child was born. Throughout this experience, we have developed a friendship with the staff at A Child's Dream and they continue to be a resource for us. We would recommend them for any family looking to adopt.

Won't call them again

My husband and i are expecting our third boy and really wanted a girl to complete our family. when the gal christy answered the phone she seemed nice at first but quickly changed her tone and said we don't do gender specific as soon as i told her we wanted a girl and wanted information on adoption seeing as how it would be about 2-3 years before we actually adopt. we want to prepare ourselves and get well informed of the laws processes ect. I would never recomend these folks if your looking to adopt a child.

Expecting? Confused? Don't know where to turn? Overwhelmed? Call them. I did. Amazing staff.

New Years Day I was sitting at my computer when my water broke. I had been in contact with an adoption agancy for about 2 months and had all the paperwork filled out, when after giving birth to my son, they informed me that they would no longer be able to be of service to me. What do I do now? Who do I turn to? A member of the hospital brought me a list of agencies to call. I randomly picked one and called. Within two hours they had Ruth a representative at my bedside going over paperwork with me. They stayed in constant contact with me. Within two days they had a wonderful family waiting to take my son home with them. They walked me through every step of the process, answered all my ?'s and concerns. I even get pics and updates on how my baby is doing. Very professional, compassionate, and understanding. AnnMarie in the Washington office is an angel. I will forever be grateful to them for the services they provide. I couldn't have asked for better. God bless them.

They can get the job done, but not compassionate or caring in any way, or helpful for that matter

Adoption is a tug at your heartstrings in so many ways, we know we've adopted more than once, and have experience in dealing with several agencies. This one is by far the worst. The others were AWESOME. So we don't often give negative reviews. We did complete the adoption with ACD and have a healthy baby. However there were bumps along the way, mainly due to their egos. If you call and ask questions like "we've been in your state for 2 weeks, do you have any idea when we might be able to go home?" THEY WILL BILL YOU FOR THAT---extra on top of their fees of > $20,000. The social worker Dee is very strange, and condescending. We arrived in Nevada and were there for FOUR DAYS before we even met her in person. The agency in Nevada and the agency in Washington have horrible communications skills, and courtesy issues. One office will tell you one thing and the other something else, which when you are dealing the with importance of accuracy in the legal world of adoption, you can be le

Not helpful in even the tiniest way!!

Person answered the phone, "adoptions" which I think is very unprofessional. When I told her what I needed she treated me as if I were crazy. Then she said that she can't help me I have to talk to a lawyer. Their site says that they help you with your adoption, counseling, and even financial assistance. They literally do none of these things! I am very disappointed and I would never recommend this to even my worse enemy because they were rude and condescending as if this process wasn't hard enough. I'm disgusted about the way I was treated and I would seriously try looking at other options. These people are pessimistic and useless for information. For your own sake, look somewhere else.
