Provided by YP.comMy two sons attended here from 2006 to 2009. Unfortunately, our experience was not the best. Our youngest one attended Primary and came out below grade level in reading. We have since hired private tutors - at great expense. This is frustrating because we had already paid so much to attend Country. The environment in his classroom was chaotic with teachers coming and going. One teacher did not work the full day, so another had to come in at lunch. There were also complete staff changes (in the middle of the year) in both our children's classrooms. I think a stable connection with at least one teacher is very important. I know prior to our attending, the school had a wonderful reputation, so I am not sure what happened.
The facilities speak for themselves. They are really rundown and the school has no funds to improve them. The bathrooms are especially in need of repair. The school raises money for certain things but then the money is put in a general expense fund and never used for whatever it was supposed to be for.
In general, the teaching staff is okay, but the administrative staff is not very people oriented. The school is run by a parent volunteer board and it has lots of problems with in-fighting. Sadly, if you ask a montessori teacher outside of Country what they think of the school, you will get a completely negative view.
Think about it a while and ask as many questions as you can before writing your check.

Provided by YP.comMy 5 year old son has been at Country Montessori School now for 2 years. It has been a great experience. It was so hard to leave him to go back to work, but I believe Country Montessori School of Poway understands how hard it can be and have really made me feel more comfortable about this whole change.
The Directresses are consistent and loving. I have seen several cuddles and playtimes with my son and that gives me piece of mind that someone is paying attention to him as much as I did when I was home with him.
The academics start as early as your first year. Depending on the capability of your child, some are doing dynamic math when they are three or four. It is delightful to have my son come home knowing the differences in botany and other sciences. We were looking at the map of the Hawaiian Islands. He was able to tell me the proper land formations!
My husband and I are thrilled with our son's progress. We encourage families to enroll their children at Country Montessori School of Poway. Families will appreciate the loving, family/home style atmosphere with the academic twist.
