I used Mortgage America when I purchased my home. They used a company, now called Corelogic, to determine if the home was in a flood zone. Corelogic determined the home was not in a flood zone. Two years later I found out the home was in a flood zone when I purchased it. It never crossed my mind that something like that could ever happen. . You trust that everyone involved in the home buying process are experts in their field. When all is said and done, guess who gets the shaft? The homebuyer. I hope anyone reading this will ask a lot of questions before signing paperwork . If not, you will most likely be just as disappointed as I have been when dealing with the company after you find out you bought a home in a flood zone. You end up with a short term resolution for a long term mortgage.
