The Prescott Fire Department is the oldest fire department in the state of Arizona. It was established in 1885 and employs more than 90 staff members that include firefighters and fire chiefs and marshals. It operates various fire stations and serves a population of over 40,225 in an area of nearly 38 square miles. The department is involved in numerous joint partnerships to include automatic aid with the Central Yavapai Fire District, United States Forest Service and Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe. The Prescott Fire Department operates an emergency communication and dispatch center that responds to approximately 7, 600 service calls annually. It maintains a fire station in Prescott, Ariz.
