Although Dr. Chung is participates with Delta Dental Premier, his office has made a conscience decision to routinely violate their contract with the insurer. As a preferred provider, he is obligated to charge only expected copays and deductibles, not the entire fee up front. I was charged $174 on a teeth cleaning on my daughter for whom I owed no copay and no deductible. I was also charged $561 for my other two children on the previous day on which I owe $151 dollars. Not only did he charge $735 up front, but the charges were greater than what he knew the contracted prices were. In essence, I gave him a 0 interest loan. To make matters worse, I had asked the front desk to call an 800 number and Delta would FAX my eligibility sheet. After just moving here, I didn't have memorized what each of my three children were eligible for, and they made no effort to help me. Services were performed that I had to pay for (like flouride and bite wings) that the insurance would have payed if I had waited till the next appointment. He didn't give me the choice! The Dr. gave the lame excuse that he doesn't let an insurer dictate how he treats. Well, that's great for him because he gets his money up front. My previous dentist in Indiana wasn't even a provider, and did far more to make sure I didn't receive bill that I was not expecting, and never charged me up front!
