After graduating from college in 1975, Barry, the owner, traveled to flea markets and college towns buying, selling, and trading records. He slept in his van and set up shop on street corners, college book stores ( Princeton's was one ), or wherever he could find a space. Eventually tiring of life on the road, in 1980 he established our first store in Princeton, NJ. The throng of customers and massive amount of merchandise soon overwhelmed the small space, so, in 1985, we moved to our present location on S. Tulane St. with five times the retail area. Even so, we are usually packed to the rafters with music and movies. From humble beginnings Princeton Record Exchange has grown to be one of the largest independent music stores in the country. Princeton Record Exchange has been buying music and movie collections for over twenty-five years. We have established a solid reputation as one of the leaders in the industry for buying,, and other audio and video formats. We are also an active member in the Better Business Bureau and adhere to their standards of business practices. You can rest assured that you will be treated professionally. We purchase thousands of collections every year-private collections, estate collections, reviewer/radio station surplus, and entire store inventories-no collection is too large! We make selling Used Compact Discs, Used LPs and DVDs easy. To find out what we can pay for your Music and DVDs you may:

The store is ok as long as you don't need any assistance finding what you need. I'm the kind of person that can spend hours browsing through records. My one serious pet peeve with the Princeton record exchange is the way they place stickers on all the records. I'm a pretty serious collector and with every sticker they place on the jackets seriously devalues the record. This is completely unacceptable from a collectors stand point. I've mentioned this to the staff on many occasions and was told that's the best way they could think of to price things. So it's for that reason I will shop there only as a last resort. Seems like an easy fix but they insist that's the best they can do. So it boils down to if you don't care about the value of the record, this is your place. But if you want to find that special record prepare yourself for the heartbreak of tearing that sticker off and watching he value disappear
