Over 90 years ago, the Monda family owned and operated an Italian bakery at 559 Hartford Avenue, in Providence, R.I. The family worked hard to producing many golden brown crusty loaves of bread, and became known as "The King of Bread". In 1987, the Monda's retired. Two years later, Arnold Buono, brother Frank, and father-in-law Dan Amadio entered the business. With help from the Monda's, and using the Old World methods and recipes, combined with modern day accuracy and high quality ingredients the Buono's began to establish a name for themselves. On October 2, 1997 The Bakery received a declaration from the Rhode Island House of Representatives, naming Buono's Italian Bakery, " Rhode Island's Best Bread"; if you haven't tried Buono's yet, get here soon! You will not be disappointed. You will also enjoy a full line of Calzones, Pizza, Biscuits, Rolls, Cakes, Eclairs, Muffins, and Italian Pastries.
