Provided by YP.comI reluctantly decided to use Alpine Electronics to try to find out what was wrong with a guitar amplifier after the manufacturer insisted they were the only authorized repair shop in the area. It didn't seem to me that Alpine Electronic Service would have any expertise in guitar amps as they looked to be more of a TV/Household electronics repair shop, but I decided I would look into it & give them a try. I overlooked many negative reviews online as they were for unrelated products & I always take a disgruntled customer's bad review with a big grain of salt. I should have heeded the advice in other reviews and stayed away.
The owner was very polite and accommodating over the phone which was encouraging, and he also assured me he knew exactly what the problem was based on my description over the phone. I was skeptical but gave him the benefit of the doubt. He agreed to meet me for pickup as I live far away from the shop, which was nice, but asked me questions that were big red flags, and way too basic for an "expert" to be asking. At one point he actually said "this is a synthesizer right?" after I had just gotten done explaining the specific issue with my guitar amplifier.
He called after a couple days and said that in his testing (with a CD player, not a guitar!) he couldn't find any problem, but that he would continue to investigate. He later called stating a vacuum tube was faulty on the amp and he had ordered a replacement. When I asked him which one he didn't seem to have an answer. I told him I prefer a certain brand of tube & asked what he had ordered, he didn't know how to answer. Since I had tried different tubes before taking the amp to him in the first place with no joy, I wasn't convinced.
He wanted to charge me $178 for changing the tube & servicing the pots & jacks on the amp, which I never asked him to do...I just wanted my specific issue diagnosed! I told him that was way too much money for that amount of work & that I just wanted my amp back so I could change the tube myself. He got upset and a bit petty with me so I agreed to give him a $20 bill on top of the $50 minimum charge I had already paid. When I picked up the amp the "bad" tube he gave back had obviously been dropped or otherwise mistreated & broken (for any guitar amp literate folks the guide pin was broken & glass envelop seal broken causing a white cloud inside the glass). So the tube wasn't so much faulty as broken by them in their servicing efforts (that I never requested). Also they didn't return the power cord to the amp so now I get to go buy another one of those on top of the money I already wasted.
In the end I got my amp back, went to a different shop, bought a tube for $15, and put it in myself (easy as changing a light bulb on a cathode biased amp like mine). If the issue I was experiencing re-surfaces I will go to Mike Christensen who is easily the most reputable guitar amp tech in the SLC area. I knew better than to go elsewhere in the first place, but I guess I needed to learn a lesson. I would never go back to Alpine Electronic Service for any reason or any type of product.

Provided by YP.comDon't even think about using this outfit. After waiting a month I found out they damaged a logic board trying to repair it. I found out later that the problem was with another component. All I received was excuses and delays.
It appears to me that all they want is to charge $60 for the initial "estimate"

Provided by YP.comI was actually very pleased with the speed of the service and their ability to come to my house to look at my TV. It was much cheaper for them to fix it than it would have been to buy a new TV which I was about to do.

Provided by YP.comThe place is the most dishonest place that I have ever been to. The owner should be run out of town. Do not take anything to this place.

Provided by YP.comThey charged me $85 to come to my house and look at my TV. The "technician" spent 10 minutes with the TV and told me it had a bad high voltage transformer and the whole board needed to be replaced. It was going to cost over $300. I found a place that does free diagnostics (Superior TV) and they had the TV running as proof of their diagnosis of the problem. The part that Alpine said was bad was just fine! When I confronted the owner about the misdiagnosis, he just told me not to use him again if I didn't like it but he would not refund the money. He has no concept of customer service and obviously doesn't care about running an honest business. I wouldn't recommend them for anything. If you wan't someone to misdiagnose problems with electronics, give me a call, I will do it for half the cost and it seems I am every bit as qualified!

Provided by YP.comI have a warranty on my TV and was referred to this company by RC Willey. They came out on 3-22 to look at the blue line across the bottom of TV screen, and ended up having to replace the optical unit. I was told they would have it by 4-16. I didn't get a call from the so I called them for an update on the 19th. They received it and came out to replace it. I called them on the 20th because there was a green spot on the screen. A tech stopped by and gave me the impression that the green spot was minimal and probably would not get fixed, but also said he would tell his boss and he would either come out himself and look at it or he would call me. I didn't hear anything from them so I called on the 22nd and left a message asking for a call back by Monday the 26th with an update on the green spot and letting them know that the picture was to big for the TV (it was getting cut off of the sides). Again I didn't receive a call back. I called them on the 27th and Jossein decided he wanted my TV in the shop. I let him know I was very hesitant on letting it because of the service I was already getting. A tech came and picked it up on the 28th promising me I would have it back by Monday 5-3. As we (I had to help, because they only sent one person out to pick up the 52' TV) the tech let the screen door go and it hit the front of the TV. Jossein called me on 5-3 and told me he got the sizing fixed, but needed to replace the optical again and I would have my TV back by 5-5. I told him I was very disappointed in the whole thing and he told me I was very hard to please and hung up on me. I called him back and let him know that was rude and then explained all the bad service I was getting from them and that was the reason I was hard to please. He never apologized. They brought my TV back and the remote, but had kept the batteries out of my remote. The one tech acted like he didn't want to be bothered with anything. He connected the cables wrong and then wanted to change the setting on the TV so they would be correct. I told him to hook it up properly so he wouldn't need to make the changes.
Over all the customer service was terrible, never getting return calls, Jossein is very hard to deal with and is rude. They had worked on our TV in the past and every time they wanted the TV in the shop when it was easily fixed in my house. I was hesitant about moving the TV because of damage that could be done to it. The only good thing about this company is the one tech named Carlos - he was wonderful to deal with.
