The Grand River Dam Authority develops and generates water power and electric energy and serves municipals, electric cooperatives and industries. It is operated by the state of Oklahoma, which also operates other departments, including fire, finance, information technology, human resources, parks and recreation, police, public services and risk management. The authority is a part of one of the 2,200 publicly owned electric utility systems in the United States that serves more than 35 million people. In addition, it maintains a staff of transmission technicians that provides client assistance services. The Grand River Dam Authority has been operational for more than 70 years and maintains a location in Pryor, Okla.
