It took 3 different vets at this place, but they finally killed our baby boy, Vinny.

My students begged me to post about this clinic that killed their class mascot and our four legged son, Vinny. He had a urinary problem. We took him in; we were told that he was fine but to keep watching; took him in 2 weeks later; again, no problem but they gave him Valium "because he was nervous." Finally, he couldn't urinate at all...third trip and they said he needed an emergency procedure. Said they were taking him in immediately...didn't. We visited every day and he appeared to be getting sicker. On the third day, we were told they were too busy to let us visit him. I called and spoke with a nurse who said he was bleeding, getting worse, his cage was filled with blood and had a fever of 103.9. I made my way over asap as one of the vets, Matt, called my husband and said that the nurse was just exaggerating...Vinny was showing great improvement and no worries. I didn't know this yet and made my way there where they left me in an empty waiting room as they cleaned up my little boy. I was then told by the third vet, Tiffany, that he "probably had a fever because of his pain." PAIN? Yes, "we have no overnight staff to administer pain meds." And then she added: "I know you spoke with the nurse but she was off duty yesterday and didn't know what was normal for Vinny." Normal to her meant bleeding, vomiting and fever of 103.9? End of story...we drove from Pueblo to Colorado Springs to an ICU facility...then to Denver the next evening when they didn't have enough matching blood to transfuse him. The next day (day 5) we received a call that the ultrasound showed his heart had been so strained, it was bleeding. He would die if they did surgery and die if they didn't. The doctor held me and we wept together as we let Vinny go. His brother, a 32 year old man, let out a guttural scream that shattered my heart. Mesa pretended they did a "voluntary review" of their care (by using their own medical notes) and found that someone...(NO ONE) told us that he would not have overnight care... Who on this earth would leave a child in pain following surgery without care. This was purportedly a 24/7 facility. "The best." When we requested his doctor's notes, there it was, typed between lab reports, "Owners have been informed that there is no overnight care." They lie, they kill. Vinny died of SEPSIS from being locked in a tiny cage with an OPEN catheter in his own blood, urine and feces. This is a butcher shop where the last stop is the mortuary to pick up your loved ones' ashes. STAY AWAY...save yourself grief and sorrow and a fake review by their insurance company, Zurich--who will send you a letter that YOU are responsible for your son's death because you didn't force feed him a special FREE can of cat food they gave you. So much more to say but I simply can't see through my tears to say it. .. My class of 4th graders begged us to identify these wrong doers so that no one else has to suffer. So...this is my first time EVER making a complaint against a vet...but this classless act needs to be exposed. So, I will continue to do the right thing....

My Favorite

My animals are long term clients at Mesa Vet. (18 + years) All of the veterinarians are compassionate and treat me like an "animal parent" while providing quality care for my animals. I will be moving from Pueblo to Peyton Colorado soon and I will still drive my "kids" to see Mesa's Doctors.

My little four legged friend lives on due to Dr Matt

I drive 50 miles each way to use the knowledge of Dr Matt of Mesa Vet Clinic. He has seen my little apricot poodle through so much and the road ahead is not going to be without bumps. Little Teddybear eats a special diet and returns to me to get one of two shots of insulin administered daily. She is totally blind and only 8 years old. Where she used to run to chase a squirrel she is very cautious now. Her heart med is given once a day and even though she can not see me she gives the same amount of love as she did before she lost her sight. She would be gone now had it not been for Dr Matt and his knowledge and love of animals. I thank you Dr Matt, The time I have with her you made possible. A call is always received by a great staff, Dr Matt has never refused to be there for me.The girls in the office at desks are some of the sweetest . The nursing staff that run glucose testing so often are loved and trusted by my Teddybear. I thank you all so very much.

The Chop Shop of Vets

They were the cause of my dog bleeding to death one night and were not really concerned about him leaving the clinic before they were able to get the bleeding under control. Sent me home with him without doing what I asked them to do. Had no advice for me when I called them back.
