I went to get a membership at the Y yesterday. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude. A child even went missing, and she didn't do anything about it other than leave the frantic parent on hold until they hung up. So much for child safety.... The lady did not give me a tour of the building like she was suppose to, (as I later found out when asking for directions.) The only reason I wanted a membership was so I could use the gym. I used it that day and was extremely unhappy with the facilities. I'm short, and some of the equipment was difficult to use. The weights area was so tiny it was ridiculous, and I always had to wait for a bench or a rack and was always stepping on someone, no matter where I went. It was annoying waiting for all the other machines too. Today, less than 24 hours later I called because I wanted a refund. (I paid cash.) no where on the application does it say no refunds. I even offered to pay for the one time I went. They said I "knew what I was signing up for" but I didn't, and they suggested that someone should give me an orientation and "explain' the equipment which I don't need because I have worked out for 2 years elsewhere. I called a Y in Denver who said they would have given back the money and only keep enough for a one day pass. However, this Y would rather take my money. I've called several times and talked to a 2 managers. They keep saying they'll have their boss call me back and I haven't heard a thing. The Y is so not worth it. On my way out, I walked by the pirate pool. Two of the lifeguards were deep in conversation and the other one was walking by the wall staring straight at the ground. No wonder parents have to have on swimwear just to sit next to the pool if their kid is under 8. The lifeguards are there just as decorations for insurance reasons, it's the parents who have to "lifeguard."
