As a dentist, Dr. Mooney is wondeful. His staff, however, leaves something to be desired. My son needed extensive work and even at our first appointment, Dr. Mooney's assistant was rude and outwardly irritated by our "interruption" of her day. She was snippy with my son and rolled her eyes several times in front of me. By the third, fourth and fifth visits, I had had enough of being treated like our presence was intrusive and bothersome. One of his assistants, Debbie, actually stood five feet from me and openly (and harshly) discussed my son and our insurance in front of a room full of people. She was rude, insensitive and unprofessional; her words were heard throughout the reception area and in the waiting room, where there were several other clients. At my son's last visit, I asked to speak with an office manager about the behavior, and requested his records. No office manager came to see me while my son was whisked into the dental chair, where he sat for 30 minutes and merely waited for the doctor. Instead of asking me what the problem was, Dr. Mooney flatly refused to see my son because I had a problem with his staff. This tells me that he either turns a blind eye to the unprofessionalism of his employees, or he really just doesn't care.



My experience is not rare. Several people I know had warned me to go elsewhere due to the hostile nature of the assistants. It's sad to think that Dr. Mooney's patients seemingly are nothing more than money in the pocketbook for him, as he certainly didn't bother to try to resolve, or even investigate, the issue. I do NOT recommend this practice for any one who expects to be treated with respect.
