Worst Eye Experience Ever

There were a number of bad interactions that have added up to where I will no longer ever go to Rainier Sight and Sound and has caused me to wright a negative review. If I could rate the place with 0 stars, I would. 1. Dr. Turner is an apparent smoker - his hands smelled as if he just got done smoking a pack of cigarettes and didn't wash his hands, not to mention his breath smelled like an ash tray. He had to be close to my face in order to examine my eyes, which made it extremely uncomfortable for a non-smoker like myself.2. The receptionist who checked me out did not know how to bill my eye insurance. She kept saying that my insurance was impacted by the new Obama Care Act and wanted to charge me double the amount of the allowable maximum co-payment for a contact lense fitting ($120 instead of $60). Without telling me, the receptionist attempted to move my contact allowance to cover the amount of the fitting so that I would have a lesser amount available for contacts. 2A. I am fully aware of my coverage and the amount that I pay, after I brought it to her attention, she began arguing with me loudly in front of a crowded waiting room. I finally gave up and left - I called my insurance company who took it upon themselves to call Rainier Sight and Sound directly and explain to them how to use the benefits and bill the insurance properly. They were completely unaware and have been billing insurance incorrectly for who knows how long. If you are a previous customer of this establishment, I would HIGHLY recommend that you have them review their records as I believe that they have been using coverages not as intended and incorrectly and possibly shorting you. 3. I went to try a new type of contacts and they ordered the incorrect brand, the brand that I am currently in. This last mistake was the straw that broke the camels back. I called the eye insurance and asked that they release the authorization so that I can begin the process at a new eye doctor, they said the couldn't release the auth for the contact fitting and the exam, but they did refund me the amount of the fitting due to the terrible experience and how terrible they were. I recommend that no one ventures out to this establishment. It is terrible, they do not have accurate billing processes, and they have an eye doctor who smells terribly of cigarettes and doesn't seem to wash his hands prior to an exam.

Upset for the lack of explanation, problem solving, and over all customer service

I am upset that this place lacks so much professionalism and is not able to come up with a solution to a problem. First of all, if you are an eye doctor, surely you should be able to explain processes, and come up with an explanation to a problem in a logical and legitimate manner. I came in for an eye exam, wanted contacts, got a trial pair of contacts for 2 weeks, and then was told to come and do a follow up exam. I have had nothing but problems with the prescribed contacts, and when I came in, I was constantly asked if I was wearing the contacts inside out, if I was cleaning them properly, if I was drinking enough water or if I was on birth control. Yes I was drinking 10-12 cups of water a day, and still the contacts felt very uncomfortable. All the doctor offered was an explanation of how the more expensive and daily wear contacts were better. I do not think contacts should make one blink 60-80 times in one minute. I talked to the doctor about this, and he had a smart aleck remark that, "Well, you have something on your eyes". No duh! But please explain to me why this is so uncomfortable. He did not offer to do a thorough recheck of an eye exam.
