rebuttle of :steer clear

susan brought a car for me to repair which needed a new door. she recived 3800.oo dollars from the insurance company but only wanted to pay me 1800 dollars . I fixed the car and painted the new door. instead of leaving the car at my shop to dry she took it after the paint was only 12 hours old. It was winter cold and wet and the paint blushed. I repainted the car a week later and it turned out perfect. She inspected it and left. A year later she posted lies about her exsperience with me. I stand behind all my work and will do whatever I can to satisfy a customer. By the way we were very good friends untill she divorced my best friend. Randy

1973 Sidewinder

I bought a nice speedboat back in 1984 that was pristine but that I had allowed it to fall into disrepair. My bad. I thought about just selling it but I thought I had so much fun with it I had to bring it back to life. It is a 1973 Sidewinder, made famous in James Bond Movies. I searched for a contractor willing to help me with me restoration project of this magnitude. Randy decided to take it on. He told me what he could do, and with the technology of the time the boat was built and the kind of finish the boat had what the limitations might be. He was upfront and honest. Well the work commenced. The wraparound Plexiglas was brittle and damaged from age. Randy turned me on to a company that could replace it. I could have never found it without Randy's help. Likewise with the upholstery. We had that pulled out and sent to a specialist that that Randy knew and brought it back to like new. With the new finish, glass and upholstery, the boat was like new. I was ecstatic !! That was two years ago and ran the boat that summer. I got a lot of real good comments at the lake. That is chapter one. Here is chapter two. Well this year I needed to have some wiring and engine work done. Again, I went to fellow that Randy recommended. Also, I had the boat out and it seemed to be taking water. When I brought it to the engine guy, he said my transom where the engine was mounted was probably the culprit. I had no doubt he was correct since I had seen multiple Sidewinder restoration projects on line, and that is a common problem for these boats of that age. He recommended Randy's Paint and Fiberglass. Well having done work with Randy before I had no hesitation. I brought the boat back, told him my problem and he told me what he could do and what the limitations were, the extent of the repair and work required (non trivial) and matching original metallic fiberglass finish and such, so that I had no unreasonable expectations. It sounded pretty severe. But into the project Randy gave it more thought and came up with what turns out to be a perfect solution. The way he took out the old transom, put in a new one and painted the repair, came out better than I could have imagined. The new paint blends with the old and looks like it belongs there. For a 42 year old boat, to come back to life the way it has is just beautiful. I'll take any project or repair to Randy any day. I have a couple of tweaks to the restoration still to do, but I have already gotten a confirmation that Randy's Paint and Fiberglass will take care of me. If you want to see proof, I'll be happy to take you for a ride.

Steer clear

Steer clear and go to a reputable auto repair facility. I have known Randy for a decade and took my new car to him for a door replacement. The paint job was horrible so I returned and asked that it be fixed. He was upset that I said I wished I had taken it to Lakes auto body and yelled at me for 10 minutes saying how lucky I was to have him take the job for less than Lakes' estimate.. He said I didn't say anything about the bad paint job when I picked it up and i was fine with it so why was i complaining now. The lights in his shop are covered in overspray and I couldn't see the bad paint job when I first picked it up, and neither could he. When I returned and he saw it in the outside light he said, oh yeah, I need to repaint that. I asked him to listen to a clicking noise when I rolled the window up or down. He said, what noise, you don't hear that, and if you do, you will get used to it. He refused to take the panel off and fix it. He was too arrogant and rude to deal with so I have just lived with the clicking in the door and cringe each time I have to roll the window down or up. Six months later I asked my brother in law who is a mechanic to see if he could fix the clicking in the window. He took the panel off and found the wires were crossed over and hitting the window. When my car was in my brother in laws new shop, with clean lights, I saw an 8 inch wide, 2 inch long paint run over the back wheel well, as well as scratch marks all over the side Randy repainted in an attempt to blend the paint down the side of my car with the new door. I am so very very disappointed. Randy is a bully and ruined my new car. Yes he charged me less than a real shop, but my car lost that amount plus more in value with this terrible paint job. If i ever sell the car everyone will know it has been repainted. i am Very disappointed and wish I had gone to a real body shop.
