i was only at jaribu for a hot minute. but i was surrounded by jaribu practitioners for much of my development. my brother, gary stanford, and jimmy all sparred beat me up and gave me training tips that helped me form a better understanding of what it meant to be a martial artist. I am sad that this school is closed. ron austin who was a 9th dan kiyoshi actually held rankings in three karate styles. i dont remember what they were. but we would do the first katas of all three styles then do the jaribu assimilated kata. it was pretty cool. to see the similarities as well as differences the yellow belt test included holding your arms out for 45 minutes then jump up and do all your katas. grueling. but built mental toughness. as well as internal strength. again it is a shame this school closed.
