Edward L. Barrett, Jr. started his career in 1968 as a sheet metal apprentice with Local Union #17 in Boston. Ed was the first ever full-time apprentice to serve his training in the Testing, Adjusting and Balancing field. He completed his apprenticeship and became a Journeyman in 1972. In 1985 Ed co-founded E. L. Barrett Company, Inc where he remains as the Owner and CEO. In addition to his ongoing commitment at E. L. Barrett Company, Inc, Ed is an active member of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, Quincy Chamber of Commerce Quincy 2000 Collaborative, Rotary Club, Historical Society and Quincy Yacht Club.

Ryan E. Barrett is a third generation employee at E. L. Barrett Company, Inc.  Prior to his current position as Project Manager, Ryan served a 5-year sheet metal apprenticeship with Local Union #17 in Boston. In addition to completing his apprenticeship and placing 2nd in the Regional Competition for Testing, Adjusting and Balancing, Ryan became the youngest ICB/TABB certified technician in the Boston area.  Ryan is a 2004 graduate of Curry College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minorin Business. Additionally, Ryan is the Co-Chair for the Quincy Center District for the Quincy Chamber of Commerce and also sits on the Legislative & Testing Adjusting and Balancing Committees for SMACNA Boston.

The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractor’s National Association SMACNA's mission is to provide products, services, and representation to enhance members' businesses, markets, and profitability. The Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau TABB operates the TAB (Testing, Adjusting and Balancing) certification program. The TABB program is designed to ensure that HVAC systems are set at the optimal limits to protect the welfare of the general public and those who work in buildings with commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Building Trade Employer’s Association Local #17 was formed in 1896 so that men and women working in the Sheet Metal Industry could bargain collectively for a good day's pay with benefits for a good day's work.
