Dear Ronnie, Your engine was ordered quickly after you agreed to the work and your Dad paid the deposit. You opted for a junkyard engine, so this added its own timeline as well. This was explained to your Dad when he came in. The hours you referenced in your post were labor hours, in other words, the industry-standard hours that are used for determining the labor costs for the job. This does not include time to diagnose your towed-in vehicle, source the parts, and the time to wait for deliveries. I'm sorry if you didn't understand this. I would have been happy to explain this again, but I didn't realize this was a source of confusion. Also, you may recall that Raleigh suffered from snowstorms during this time that shut down transportation and, also the junkyard where the donor car for your replacement engine was blanketed in snow. Unlike a crate motor which is sitting in a warehouse waiting for immediate shipment via commercial carrier service, someone had to retrieve your donor engine and truck it down themselves. Keep in mind also that with a junkyard engine we do not just drop it into your engine bay and push the car out the door. We took the time to check the engine over carefully, slowly and carefully bring it back into service with fresh fluids, and run it for extended periods to ensure good operation. This is all part of doing a quality job. I hope you are enjoying your replacement engine and are taking good care of it. Your prior engine died because of poor oil lubrication which became severe enough to cause it to fail internally. Here is a photo of one piston that completely split off a large chunk of itself. Good maintenance is very important and can save several thousand dollars of repair bills.
