In 1933 Hugh G. Dupree started a general insurance business. In 1957, Van Wyck Webb, Sr. returned to Raleigh to join Hugh G. Dupree and Gavin Dortch, the firm being called Dupree & Dortch. The name was changed to Dupree & Webb Inc in the mid 60's. In 1980 Van Wyck Webb, Jr. joined the agency and became President in 1987 continuing a tradition of Webb involvement in the insurance industry statewide. Dupree & Webb, Inc has a staff of well trained, licensed insurance professionals and has enjoyed continued growth with the prominent philosophy that "business goes where it is invited and stays where it is treated with respect".
