Independent Adoption Center, founded in 1982, is one of the largest open adoption programs in the United States. The organization aims to make open adoption a viable and accessible alternative to untimely pregnancy throughout the U.S. by providing professional, licensed, comprehensive educational and counseling-centered services to birthparents, adopting parents and adoptees. Its services include support groups for birthparents during the adoption process and after placement, adoptive parent home studies and updates and birthparent relinquishments. It also offers post-placement supervision and national, regional and local community outreach and advertising. It provides its services in more than 35 states and is fully licensed in California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, New York, North Carolina, and Texas.
