North Carolina's Oxford House Pinecrest is one of the many branches of Oxford Houses, a clean and sober housing alternative for people in recovery. The first set of Oxford Houses was established in Asheville and Durham in 1991. Oxford House provides accommodation for individuals after they complete a drug and alcohol treatment program. Substance abuse counselors are the main source of referrals to Oxford Houses. The residents have to adhere to rules of the house such as participating in a recovery program in the community during their stay at Oxford House. Any resident who relapses will be immediately expelled. Each house is financially self-supporting with the members sharing house expenses.
