Provided by YP.comSherrill's Cleaner ruined a slipcover I sent to have cleaned, that many others have cleaned without problem. It was returned to me smelling like harsh chemicals with the colors fading in and out. One of four pieces were ruined rendering the entire set useless. When I returned to speak to the manager, a Mr. Steve Lee, he was very condesending and rude. He spoke down to me and did not listen to any logical points I brought up. When I tried to question him about the smell being an indication of a problem, he avoided answering by offering to throw it in the dryer to get the smell out without addressing my initial question. He insisted that my slipcover was ruined by sun damage. However, the areas faded were not the ones closest to my windows and, on top of that, my windows are low-emission to prevent this problem and I know the cover was not damaged prior to dropping of as I am the one who vacuums it weekly and removed it to take to the cleaner. Mr. Lee indicated he would do nothing for me; not even to refund the $40+ I spent for him to ruin the cover. The most frustrating part of the experience was his rudeness, tone, and condesending nature. I feel this childish behavior was an indication that Mr. Lee knew, before I even explained the problem fully, that he was guilty of ruining my slipcover.
The first thing I was taught in business school was that you can not please everyone. Unfortunately this lesson comes up from time to time. I pride myself on my work, I have a strict policy that "if I won't wear it, my customers won't", along with "we will clean it until you tell me to stop." I guarantee nothing as far as the cleaning of the fabric is concerned, I promise to do my best. Which I can assure to all that reads this that, I have been doing this long enough to know that my best is bar none. I see hundreds of customers a day, and I try my best to speak to each one, and most often know them by name. I treat my customers as I would like to be treat as a patron elsewhere. For the matter of this complaint here, I only dished what I was being served at the time. I held my tongue for as long as humanly possible. This client came in and told me that my harsh chemicals ruined one of her slip covers. The order indicated there was other covers but only one was rendered useless. I have a machine that will clean 50lbs of clothes at a time, which I try to do all the time. It is costly to run a load for just one piece of garment, down right idiotic. So it is safe for you to assume that I cleaned it with 48 lbs of other clients' clothes. So I want to know how only one of the covers got damaged by this so called "harsh" chemical. Any professional in any field they are experienced in can tell you various details about their area of expertise. Sadly, growing up in this industry for the past 30 years I consider myself an expert in drycleaning. My peers see me as one so as a client this person picked the wrong store to come in and raise her voice to me and make uneducated accusations. I only snapped back at this customer after it was deemed useless to try doing anything, because nothing was going to please her. I can assure you all that I pledged to her that I will replace the whole thing and refund her cleaning if the Fabricare Institute (a lab. that analyse fabric) says that it was my chemicals not a sun fade on her slip cover, and she refused. At that point I knew all she wanted was a payday, and in Sherrills Cleaners payday is on Friday and you have to be employeed by me. No exceptions. For all people wishing to check out my work welcome. To the one's that can't be pleased no matter what please keep driving.
