This company epitomizes incompetence. First, they were completely unable to adhere to any timeline. They were informed of the Required Delivery Date TWO AND A HALF MONTHS IN ADVANCE! To compound the issue, they were unwilling to compensate for inconvenience caused by their errors in scheduling. Second, despite a pre-move survey, they completely misjudged the size of truck needed for the move. This resulted in household goods being loaded and delivered by two separate trucks in two separate shipments. Third, they exaggerated reporting on the condition of household goods at pick-up so that they were protected from damage claims on the receiving end. Forth, they broke a porcelain figurine while packing and then tried to hide it by putting it on the counter by the un-shippable liquids. When asked how it broke, they denied responsibility saying that "perhaps the wind blew it over". I am currently active duty military and, while I cannot be certain, I am fairly confident that Chieftain Van Lines intentionally provided me with sub-standard service. They knew that they could save money and time with my household goods shipment because they are very aware that military personnel have no recourse for sub-standard service. Shame on them. Any other carrier would surely be a better choice!
