San Diego County Fire Protection District-Station 85
25858 Highway 78, Ramona, CA 92065
About Intermountain Fire Rescue Intermountain Fire and Rescue Department was established in early 1988 by a concerned group of citizens who wanted to provide better fire protection for their community. The Intermountain Fire and Rescue Department serves an area of 125 square miles bordering Ramona, Julian, Lake Henshaw as well as Palomar Mountain. In 2008 Intermountain, through a contract with San Diego County, joined the San Diego County Fire Authority (SDCFA). As part of that contract Intermountain retains its original response area, provides mutual aid to nearby departments and provides staffing at additional stations. The Department serves a daily resident population of 4, 000 residents and an additional 12, 000 commuters due to major highways that run throughout the area. We respond to over 300 Calls For Service a year, with the majority being traffic accidents and medical aids. The remainder of calls are various in nature with a large propensity for rescue and vegetation fires due to the large urban interface area.
