Do not believe a word they say. Had agreement with management about getting out of the lease and said I could pay until they rented the apartment out, they called and said it was rented and I would be getting my deposit and part of my rent back, then I get a bill in the mail saying I would be taken to collections. They said sorry, nothing we can do because it is new management.

If I could give this a zero I would... Stay clear of these apartments if you have children, a pet, want a parking spot, or working closet doors, among many, many other things. The management is awful! If you have a complaint about maintenance on your apartment, it becomes your fault and not the fault of the old outdated items in the apartment. The management hypes up the apartment complex that it is pet friendly and kid friendly, that's a joke! If your child puts one toe out of place you will be wrote up for it. Be prepared to ensure your dog never barks, and pay up front for your dog to be tagged for it's DNA. Although they state there is off street parking, there is little parking available for all of the residents. If it's the weekend don't expect the sidewalks to be cleared of snow and ice, or the parking lot to be maintained... it won't happen. There are mice in the laundry rooms that run along the base board heating into the apartments.

I highly recommend not living at Canyon Lake Apartments. The landlord (Terry) is rude to the tenants and uses profanity. These apartments are far from "crime free" I know numerous people who have had their appartment broken into a number of times. People walk down the halls rattling door handles to see if they were left unlocked. When you tell management about this issue, they do NOTHING about it. Its advertised that this place has security cameras, but they only face the leasing office, and the pool.. none in the hallways. Also, the hallways always smell terrible, and are dingy. The buildings are built terribly, there are weak spots on the floors, and the walls are paper thin. I wish I could give zero stars, but the lowest rating is one star.

The place has mice. You can here them in the walls. Also its built like a cardboard box, you can here everything in the surrounding apts, from people having sexual intercourse, to people taking a poop. Oh I forgot about the box elder bugs that get in side your apt too.



They are not military friendly a all. Also the guy that runs the place (Terry) uses profanity with whoever present. He said things I don't say in front of my kids. Although I don't know who he was talking to at the time.



I couldn't even give this place 1 star, but it makes you.

Great location in western Rapid City. Close to Parks, Hiking/Biking trails, shopping, restaurants. An affordable option in Rapid City housing. Clean and well cared for with friendly knowledgable staff. Crime Free, Smoke Free and Pet Free. In ground pool for seasonal swimming, excercise room, garages available.
