This Home is known for the offensive smell the minute you walk in. I've known of Patients falling off beds receiving severe injuries due to outdated equipment and poorly trained staff. During my time as an employee I witnessed numerous staff members neglect patients who were bed bound or immobile. The patients do not receive proper care much less dealt with compassion. A lot of the families who admit their loved ones expect good care and are met with something far from that. There is no on site support for families, which I think is the primary reason Retama Manor has done so poorly in the past. Recently it has come under new management but I do feel their core plan is not close to what it should be which is to make this a more family oriented facility. These patients call this place home, it should feel more like one rather than an asylum.
