Instead of being a corporate-owned insurance business, we're a locally owned company with deep roots in the Red Wing, Minnesota and Lake City, Minnesota area. When you need help, or have a question, you'll talk to a real person who understands what you're going through and who knows how to help. The Musty-Barnhart Agency traces its history in Red Wing all the way back to the 1850s, when a Red Wing land agent started operating an insurance agency which eventually became known as the Betcher Agency. Over the years, five local agencies have been folded into what is now a full-service, locally owned business serving the insurance needs of Red Wing, Lake City and the entire Goodhue, Wabasha, and Pierce County areas and far beyond. The Musty-Barnhart Agency is a combination of these five agencies; the Betcher, Barnhart, Musty, Viking, and Lake City Agencies. The Betcher Agency started in the 1850's and is the oldest continuously operating insurance agency in Goodhue County. The Musty Agency and the Barnhart Agency were combined in 1977 to form Musty-Barnhart Agency, Inc The Betcher Agency and the Viking Agency were both acquired and merged into the Musty-Barnhart Agency in 1986 and the most recent addition was the Lake City Agency in 2008. Current ownership has been in place since 1997. We're very proud to be a locally owned independent insurance agency with locations in Red Wing and in Lake City. We are a full service, independent insurance agency offering all lines of Commercial and Personal Insurance, Bonds, and Group and Individual Life & Health products. The Musty-Barnhart Agency is owned by Jeff Cunningham, Bob Kubes, and Dee Sigler. We have no outside corporate partners. We are truly locally owned! In addition to the three owners, we have an additional six employees. We have over 140 years of combined experience in the insurance business. We service approximately 2, 200 clients of which these consist of about 600 commercial or business clients and 1, 600 personal lines clients. Our agency premium volume consists of approximately 65% commercial/business insurance. Our staff is very active in the communities of Red Wing and Lake City and it is important to us that we be a productive part of the communities in which we live and work. We are very proud of our entire staff and can honestly say that in regards to customer service and expertise in the insurance business, that they would rival any insurance staff anywhere. We are in a relationship business and we put our customer first. Our goal is to make sure our customers realize our commitment to them through us offering the finest service available with superior quality insurance products.
