Lassen Canyon Nursery farms its plants using a variety of cultural practices together with applications of fertilizers including Ultra Gro Plant Food and pesticides containing MESSENGER, a product produced by Eden Bioscience. The company has over 50 years experience growing strawberry plants for commercial growers and the home gardener. The nursery has five different growing areas to meet customers needs. Over 90 percent of the plants it grows are in the State of California Certification Program. All the plant stock is initially produced from meristem cells. The plants are then grown in insect and disease free screenhouses. The progeny (offspring) of these plants are tested to insure they are free of nematodes and disease. They are then planted in the company s foundation beds in Shastina, Calif., and are cultivated in fumigated soil. Lassen Canyon Nursery is based in Redding, Calif.
