Provided by YP.comMy 10 year old daughter took lessons from Brian for about a year, and then I (a middle-aged man) have been taking lessons for about 9 months.
My daughter and I both enjoyed taking piano lessons from Brian. It doesn’t seem like he has a set curriculum, but instead lessons are based on what type of music you’re interested in, and how much you were able to practice the week before (Did you master the new songs? Does the timing need to be fixed, etc), and ability.
He’s been eager to work with me when scheduling conflicts arise… as long as I give him enough notice, we’ll reschedule lessons for different days/times/etc that work for both of us.
Overall I’ve been happy with the instruction I’ve received from Brian.

Provided by YP.comBrian Lundell began as an "ok" experience and my son seemed to receive Brian's teaching style positively but as nice as things began, it rapidly took a down turn. My biggest problem (aside of the lack of theory and note reading in his curriculum) Brian doesn't have a reasonable perspective on absences for his students. There were two times that I had to cancel my son's lessons. The 1st time was when I was diagnosed with a kidney infection. I called him the morning after I had spent the previous night in the ER, to let him know that my son would have to miss his lesson, to which Brian responded that he requires 24 hours notice for cancellations. Another time, my son was in the ER on the day of his lesson due to an asthma episode. When I explained the absence to Brian he responded again, that he requires 24 hours cancellation notice. He was also not amenable to skipping the week of the Lake WA School District's Spring Break. I told him that we weren't going to be in town and therefore wouldn't be bringing my son for his lesson. Now, this was a week's advance notice and still I experienced push-back.
I need to add that although Brian advertises his lesson rates at $23.00 for 30 minutes, I paid him $26,00 per lesson....every lesson...so not only did Brian Lundell not deliver the service, which I expected, he took extra money for not delivering the service I expected.
Now I could use this forum to criticize other details regarding how Brian Lundell teaches, communicates and runs his business but I won't. I believe that based on my experience and given the review before mine, Brian Lundell just isn't cut out for a career in music instruction. He has a very uneven temperament and a clear lack of experience, where it comes to client interaction in his business. This doesn't bode well for customers who have the expectation of professionalism when paying for a service and a reasonable modicum of mature behavior, when working with children. Brian Lundell lacks both of these qualities.
The reason for me continuing with Brian Lundell was because of the convenience of his location to my son's school but I would drive from Redmond to West Seattle rather than to continue my son's music lessons with Brian Lundell. I sensed something *off* in the beginning and should have followed my instinct. Lesson learned.
