Iraq war veterans Josh Pascua and Jake Cosme are excited to bring Rita’s famous “cool” treats to California, after recently signing a multi-unit franchise agreement in Redondo Beach. Jake’s first taste of Rita’s delicious Ice occurred in 2002 while attending the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He was introduced to the Rita’s brand and our famous Italian Ice during his time in Maryland. From then on, he has been a huge fan of Rita’s and sorely missed his favorite summer treat back East. Fast forward a few years and Jake, an active duty Captain and Intelligence Officer in the Marine Corps stumbled across Rita’s while researching potential franchisees through the Veterans Franchise Organization, Vet Fran. He was immediately drawn to the business and the prospect of bringing the East Coast favorite to California. It did not take long to convince his friend and business partner Josh, to make the investment and to help bring Rita’s to the Redondo, Hermosa & Manhattan beach areas. Josh retired from the service in 2005 at the rank of Sergeant and is currently a mortgage banker with Kinecta Federal Credit Union, Manhattan Beach. He is equally excited about the opportunity to introduce Rita’s to the South Bay Area.

Zagat, which was acquired by Google last year, is behind the popular restaurant review books known as the “burgundy bible,” surveyed more than 10,500 diners about 274 restaurant chains and announced the results of its annual Fast-Food Survey last week.
