"Yes", oops, wait "No", sorry.

We turned in all pay stubs and paperwork requested. We were told that we do qualify and that a spot would be held in the Sutro Preschool. We went home, and got a letter in the mail 10 days later saying that upon "closer inspection" we do not qualify because we make $500 a year too much. While it is understandable that they must adhere to federal income guidelines.....they could have told me they would review it and let me know....or that they didn't know for sure......people count on these services and they shouldn't be told yes, and then no because it could really damage the efforts of people trying to get on their feet when they think they're approved and make plans to go to work, thinking they have childcare and are then told "oops, we didn't look well enough, you actually don't qualify." Your tax dollars at work....
