They operate a group home for mentally ill patients next door to my home. I asked them in person and by letter about various issues. First: The police visit their group home many times because of problems arising from the patient's behavior. The Landlord of that home which is supported directly or indirectly by the money paid to the "overseers" who rent the home, is not a good neighbor. A large dead tree stands in the back yard which is not only unsightly, but it could fall on one off the patients someday. Also, the owner had a retaining wall built recently and he used dirt taken from along my fence, which has weakened my fence and my back yard soil is falling into his yard because he removed dirt below the bottom off the fence bottom.
I asked in a letter if the overseers are qualified or have had proper training to manage mentally ill patients. No answer. I asked who is allowed into the house besides the patients and the overseers? No answer. I am asking if they approve of the landlord being less than a good neighbor. Do they have a license to operate a group home in a residential neighborhood? Do they collect Federal Income taxes for payments to the overseers or is that hidden income for the overseers? Sparks requires a business license to be obtained for any business operated from a home. Do they have a Sparks Business license? Many questions about Group Homes seem to have no answers and no one is volunteering any answers. For instance, do the overseers administer medications to the patients? Is the home supervised by a doctor?
