Lissa Mills at Beginning Steps is truly a miracle worker. My son is six years old and started seeing her when he was three. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that my son will not be walking without the submittal there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that my son will not be walking without Lissa. She is incredibly professional and has the ability to connect in a way that I have never seen before in my life. I have worked medication for 20 years and dealt with youngsters from five years old to 18 years old and what she has is truly a gift. Not only is her ability beyond measure but she's an incredible wealth of knowledge and resources and made the terrifying journey through the world of cerebral palsy, much less terrifying and gave us knowledge and confidence that we could face the challenge and overcome it. Lissa still works with my son and a regular basis and she will for many years to come. We are very blessed to have the resources to take him to anyone in the nation and we have in fact traveled far and wide and we have been exposed to dozens and dozens of therapists but without question and without a close second she is simply amazing. Not only would I strongly recommend sending your child to her, I genuinely feel sorry for the families who don't . She not only transform the life of my son but she transformed our family and for that I will always be eternally grateful. I think God every day that we found Lissa Mills at Beginning Steps! I have also had the pleasure of meeting dozens of other families who have been transformed by her love, knowledge, skill and willingness to share resources and information. She is very reluctant to ever receive praise or acknowledgment but I can tell you that I speak for hundreds of families when I say, THANK YOU for what you do and for sharing your gifts with us!

My daughter had the misfortune of receiving therapy from Beginning Steps Therapy. Before we started I was looking forward to trying this type of therapy. In reality none of my hopes realized.

First of all Lissa, the therapist, is overworked because she is running this business and private therapy on the side, working 7 days a week. She mentioned that she is use to children crying and has ear plugs for extra loud ones.

My daughter has a strong will and knows what she wants. Lissa on the other hand is also strong willed. Every day started with my daughter being strapped to the table with heat packs. My daughter hates being strapped to the bed, laying down, and Lissa did not make any adjustments to help her, she wanted my daughter to cry it out. In the end this turned into behavioral therapy i did not sign up for, my baby cried for an hour strapped to the table as Lissa smiled and asked her to exercise. During the three week therasuit session my daughter only had the suit on twice for about 30 minutes. That was the only time she did not cry.

So if you are looking for an extremely expensive behavioral therapy, Beginning Steps may be the place, but as far as the terasuit goes, you child may never get to wear it at all.

One time I had discovered bruises on her arms, I am assuming from the poorly fitting braces or Lissa fingers pulling my daughter by her arms.

Additionally, other then Lissa there is an office manager, but she is rarely there, so as you bring your child to the clinic, they will be left one on one with the therapist. Once Lissa needed to run to the bathroom, she put my daughter on the floor and went out of the clinic to use the restroom, thankfully I was out in the hall, she ran into me, told me shell be right back, and I went back to the clinic to watch my child.

I find that it is inappropriate for a therapist to be the only person present with the child, for three hours, yet Lissa encourages parents to leave for the perioud of the therapy, although she does not mind if you stay in the waiting area.

I would love to go to a different Therasuit clinic and see if this method could prove beneficial to my daughter, as I would suggest to you as well. This is not a good practice. My daughter was terrified of going in the car, or entering or buildings for a few months after the therapy. She was physically and emotionally traumatized, and got no benefit what so ever out of it.
