The Madison County Advertiser is a classified ad shopper with a weekly circulation of 21,500 copies. The Advertiser is affiliated with and printed by the Richmond Register, Richmond, Ky. The Richmond Register's history goes back to the incorporation of the city of Richmond. It was the city's first paper, published Nov. 2, 1809. The newspaper changed hands many times over the decades, until Newspaper Holdings bought the Register in 1999. The Richmond Register was named best newspaper in the state in January 2006 by the Kentucky Press Association. The Madison County Advertiser is owned by Classified Newspaper Holdings, formed in 1997 with corporate headquarters located in Birmingham, Ala.
