About Pointer's Jewelers Our Long History Pointer's Jewelers has a long, historical past. In 1858, Mr. Megede, a Prussian born silversmith, established L. Megede Jewelers and Optometrist and served the community as a fine watchmaker and jeweler. By the late 1800's, L. Megede Jewelers and Optometrist sold not only jewelry and eye glasses, as the name implied, but musical instruments, guns, golf equipment, wall paper and Victrola's. Crumbling account ledgers, dating back to the 1870's, are still kept at the store, listing many prominent residents and their purchases. In the early 1950's, Jack and Bonnie Pointer merged their store with the Megede's, renaming the store Pointer's Jewelers and Engravers. Jack Pointer, an accomplished watch maker, jeweler and hand engraver maintained a reliable jewelry business based on customer service, honesty and dependability, until his death. In the Spring of 1992, the Pointer's/Megede legacy passed to Roger Kepple, a successful jewelry store owner from the Kansas City metro area. Mr. Kepple was a specialist in jewelry design, clock repair and appraising. The residents of Richmond and the surrounding counties knew Pointer's Jewelers for the quality of their products and the integrity of their service. Under Mr. Kepple's leadership, the Midwest region would come to appreciate the small town historic jewelry store of Richmond, Missouri. In 2009, Roger Kepple was ready to retire. He discounted all of his merchandise for a retirement sale and announced the store would be closing. Like many generations of Pointer's customers, Tim and T.J. Sturm couldn't imagine Richmond without the beloved store. The Sturm's were currently small business owners who ran a delivery company. With one foot in the service industry, the Sturm's considered a step into retail and the jewelry business. After careful consideration, the Sturm's purchased Pointer's in January 2010 and carry on the centuries' long-tradition of sales, repair, custom design, watches and clocks. The Sturm's retained Mr. Kepple's staff, and added a team member of their own. Altogether, the owners and staff have over 60 years of experience in the jewelry industry. Thus, Pointer's Jewelers remains the historic small town jewelry store that believes in ability, determination, trustworthiness, and quality.

I recently moved from the big city to a small country town Hardin. Culture shock- I was used to doing business with well known chain stores. Meeting my farmer & moving to the farm opened my eyes to mom & pop stores. Well we were looking for my wedding ring & I knew that I wanted something totally different than what I was seeing online at those chain stores. I stopped in Pointer s one day and the owner TJ listened to what I was looking for and went out of her way to help. She bought rings and emailed me pictures and was very patient with me. We finally figured out what I wanted. She had a sterling silver & diamond pair of hoop earrings and a sapphire thin wedding band, and we had them put together. I now have the wedding ring of my dreams- thanks to TJ and the jewelery designer. From now on when ever I need any kind of jewelry I will definetley go to Pointer s. I wish I could add a picture of my ring- it is amazing what they could do with a pair of
