Founded in 1997, L. Douglas Wilder Middle School offers regular classes in English, social studies, health, reading and science. It also offers advanced classes in world history, algebra and earth science. The school offers several sports activities, such as basketball, volleyball, track and field, cross country, soccer and field hockey. It provides opportunities for its students to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including newspaper, future engineers, chess, computer repair and service learning clubs; the National Junior Honor Society; peer assistant and yearbook programs; and a student council. In addition, L. Douglas Wilder Middle School s guidance counselors provide assistance with education, career, personal and social issues. The middle school is located in Richmond, Va.
