Dr. Barr and Dr. Hyder are the only reasons I stay at this horrible place

I have never had a more unpleasant experience in my life than I just had two weeks ago at Patterson Avenue Family Practice. I have been a patient since 1999 and have slowly watched the quality of doctors, receptionists, and office staff steadily decline. I had considered this practice to be a very honest and caring establishment but within the last few years I honesty feel like my health could not be taken into consideration any less. Last October I had an allergic reaction to hay and was told it was scabies. Another time I went in with the flu and was given attitude from the doctor when recommending medications that worked in the past. I was sent home with no advice other than to take Tylenol cold and sinus. For my fifty dollar copay and three unpaid days off work I don't have the time or money to be misdiagnosed by someone who probably searched the wrong symptoms in web.md.
Last week I visited the office to drop off paper work for a job related physical. I was immediately snubbed by not one, but three receptionists whose grimaced faces made me feel as if I overstepped my boundaries by simply walking in the office. When I asked to leave the paper work with the nurse practitioner conducting the physical my request was immediately rejected with no explanation other than "we never take paper work before an appointment". The following two minutes of my explanation as to why I was there in the first place was met with eye rolls, disrespectful tones, and an implied invitation to leave, as they had clearly exhausted all efforts and attention my situation required. Feeling like I was at a dead end I left the office irate and belittled by women who were the face of the office, the ones who were (supposedly) there to assist you and your needs. After a few minutes it occurred to me that I did nothing to deserve such despicable and unforgivable behavior, so I did the only thing I thought would remedy the situation, I called the office manager. After three days, two voicemails, two messages from the answering service I received a half hearted apology from the office manager at 5:29pm on my cell phone. Exactly one minute before my shift ended at work and apparently one minute before she was done with her daily responsibilities. I called once more and have yet to hear her voice or see her face. Not only do those receptionists owe me an apology for their vile behavior, but the office manager now owes me one for her complete lack of compassion and accountability for her team.

Stay away! I have been a patient here for over 25 years and as the previous reviewer mentioned, the entire staff is on a steady decline. The office staff are always rude. My latest nightmare with them involves a prescription refill. My pharmacy called them on a Wednesday to request a refill. When no one called them back by Friday, they called aagain. When no one called them back by the following Monday, they called again. This time they spoke to the receptionist who advised my pharmacist that it would take a nurse 24-48 hours to return their call. I also called that afternoon and the initial response I got was that the problem was most likely an insurance authorization. What does No Refills-Authorization Required have to do with my insurance company? I was also told the Dr. didn't work on Mondays. Well, did he not work the Wednesday, Thursday or Friday before and is it not possible for another doctor in the practice to authorize a refill? I asked to have a nurse call me back and advise if another appointment was necessary to obtain the refill. It has been 24 hours and I am still waiting for that call. Almost 5 days without my medication, think it is time to move on to an HCA affilliated practice. By the way, my prescription is for high blood pressure. This experience is sure to help in that area.
