I will provide a very descript...

I will provide a very descriptive reason of why I would NEVER recommend this practice. If you want the short version… Don’t waste your time or money!

The inside of the office is updated and pretty nice. That is the only good thing I can say about this practice. I visited this dentist because I was almost positive I had a cavity. The dental assistant made several failed attempts to take an x-ray of the teeth I was having pain in. She kept forcing the mouthpiece for the x-ray into my mouth despite my complaints of pain until I finally physically forced her and the arm of the machine away from my mouth. The inside of my mouth was bleeding. The dentist finally came in and reviewed the x-rays she was able to take and said he didn’t see any cavities and recommended I purchase a mouth guard (which costs around $400 out of pocket). The assistant then took a panoramic x-ray (which she clearly didn’t understand the proper way to operate).

A few days after that visit, my wisdom tooth broke through the skin.

The pain in my teeth continued, so I visited my original dentist (Dr. Beals, Marion). The hygienist effortlessly took several x-rays, and the dentist immediately confirmed that I had 2 cavities in the teeth I was complaining about. I asked him about the wisdom tooth and he said it should be removed, but he would need an x-ray to know how to proceed. They informed me that because Richwood Dental had already taken the panoramic I would have to pay for additional x-rays out of pocket (because insurance only covers so many x-rays per period), so I should contact Richwood and ask for a copy of the x-rays.

When I contacted Richwood they said they didn’t have the x-ray! They supposedly sent the ONLY copy of the x-ray to the insurance company. The insurance company is unable to send me or my dentist the copy of the x-ray because Richwood is the one who took it. So now I am forced to ask Richwood to ask for a copy of THEIR x-ray before I can have my dentist remove my wisdom tooth. According to the insurance company, it is their policy as well as the ADA’s (American Dental Association) policy to NEVER send original x-rays; to ALWAYS keep the original and send the copy to the insurance company (DUH!).

For the extra 10 minute drive, it is more than worth it to go to my original dentist.

Also, their hours are a little difficult to work with for a person with a "normal" work schedule, and I have only gotten them to answer the phone 1 time out of the 8+ times I have called.
