Established in 1961, Westside Elementary School provides a range of general academic programs to more than 350 students in kindergarten through grade six. Its academic curriculum includes language arts, English, mathematics, science and social studies. The school maintains a library and media center that features a collection of books and reference and instructional materials. It also operates a parent-teacher association that conducts several fundraising events and programs. The school maintains a school site council and English learner advisory committee. It employs a nurse, psychologist, resource specialist, and intervention and curriculum support teachers and is located in Rio Linda, Calif. Westside Elementary School is a part of the Rio Linda Union School District, which was founded in 1914 and governs several educational institutions.
