Afternoon at the Museum.

Not all of California’s water fronts are of the coast. There are many river and lake fronts as well for vacationers who prefer not to drive that far West. One such town is Rio Vista (River View) off Hwy 12, west of Lodi, South of Sacramento. In downtown is “Foster’s Bighorn.” This is every bit an attraction as it is a mid-priced Restaurant. I had Fish and Chips at the staff’s suggestion as I was pure tourist mode not being that familiar with the inland cities. I could go into great detail on the meal, environment, and very polite staff. However, why tamper with perfection as they gave me a handout that best gives you a thorough description:

Bill Foster came to Rio Vista from Alameda in 1931. He bought his bar and café to start his life over.

Bill was a "bootlegger" from Alameda and was on "the run" from an assistant district attorney named

Earl Warren. Bill changed his last name from Frates to Foster to begin his fresh start.
