Washington Irving Trail Museum
3918 S Mehan Rd, Ripley, OK 74062
In 2002, the Washington Irving Trail Museum was recognized for its outstanding exhibits by the American Association for State and Local History. Walk through the museum and you will see artifacts from a Civil War battlefield, a billfold and saddle given to homesteaders by outlaw Bill Doolin, and a first edition copy of Washington Irving's A Tour on the Prairies. Song books, recordings, and memoribilia of the nation's first western band will take you back to the early days of radio and commercial country music. These and many other artifacts associated with the people and events of the area and region help to tell the story of Oklahoma's fascinating history that will capitulate the interest of museum visitors, students, and historians.
