Jackson County Schools offer educational and extracurricular programs to students from grades kindergarten through 12. Various schools operated under its jurisdiction include Cottageville Elementary, Evans Elementary, Fairplain Elementary, Gilmore Elementary, Kenna Elementary, Ripley Elementary, Ravenswood Middle, and Ripley Middle. Its high and vocational schools include Ripley High School and Roane Jackson Technical Center. The school district has a wellness center that offers a variety of services, including appointment with the nurse practitioner for acute illness and injury, health check exams and sports physicals, appointment with dentist for examination, cleaning, sealants, and fluoride application, appointment with respiratory therapist, and health education. Jackson County Schools, in accordance with state and federal regulations, operates an extended school year program for eligible students with disabilities who are currently enrolled in a special education program in the county. The school district is headquartered in Ripley, W.Va.
