Incorporated in 1946, the River Oaks Volunteer Fire Department provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services. It serves a population of more than 9,000 living in an area of over four square miles. The department conducts training classes in the areas of various safety issues. The River Oaks Volunteer Fire Department supports school carnivals, parades, car shows, food drives and other civic events.
