The North Riverside Fire Department works to protect the lives, property and environment from the threats and occurrences of emergencies. It provides services that include fire suppression, hazardous materials mitigation, technical rescue and inspectional services. The North Riverside Fire Department covers an area of more than 2 square miles and provides services to a resident population of over 6,600 people. It works with a team of nearly 20 firefighters and more than five contracted paramedics. The department also organizes various public fire safety education programs. The North Riverside Fire Department is operated by the city of North Riverside, Ill, which additionally manages police, administration, recreation, public works and building departments.
