Elizabeth Russo-Stringer, MD is a pain physician who has recently joined the Carilion Clinic Pain Department. She and her family have moved to Roanoke, Virginia because of the opportunity to work in Carilion Clinic as well as the exceptional private and public colleges available in Virginia which will open up many opportunities for their daughter.Dr. Elizabeth Russo-Stringer is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with Bachelors of Science degrees in Microbiology and Zoology. She received her medical doctorate from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans (Charity Hospital) and completed her residency in Anesthesia at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. She then completed her fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. After fellowship, Dr. Russo-Stringer was in private practice in Baton Rouge for 9.5 years.Dr. Russo-Stringer is impressed by the leadership at Carilion Clinic and excited to be part of the growth of the pain department. She describes it as innovative and forward thinking since it focuses on minimally invasive treatment options as well as medication, nutrition, counselling, and even embraces complementary medicine such as acupuncture.She and her family are excited about becoming a part of the Roanoke community.
