Founding Pastors
Pastor David Tuell received Christ as his personal savior at an early age and answered the call to ministry in 1980. He attended classes at Columbia Bible College in Columbia, SC and at Southwestern Christian University in Oklahoma City, OK.
Pastor David's ministry began as a youth leader in a Southern Baptist Church and his first senior pastoral position was likewise in the SBC. In the last 30 years he has planted two more churches and pastored one church in a classical Pentecostal denomination. Also during this time Pastor David has done radio and television ministry, served on Bishop's Councils, and national level committees.
Pastor Jill Tuell received Christ at an early age and has served Him since her childhood. Jill was a leader in her youth church and sang in a gospel group for several years. Upon marriage to pastor David, she continued to serve faithfully by his side in every assignment from the Lord.
In thirty years of ministry, there is not much Pastor Jill has not undertaken. She has been active in music ministry, children's ministry, all manner of service oriented-ministry, but most importantly, as a co-laborer with her husband in every endeavor.
Pastors David and Jill have two grown daughters who are faithfully serving the Lord. Chassidy is a graduate of Roanoke College and working towards her Master of Divinity Degree from Regent University. Lauren is a graduate of Virginia Tech, now married and living with her husband, Ben Chester, in Virginia Beach Virginia.

Provided by YP.comI think I've been looking for something like Pastors David and Jill all of my life. They are down to earth and under Pastor's teaching I have grown and learned so much.

Provided by YP.comWe moved our family from New Orleans to Roanoke and have been so blessed to find Bishop David Tuell.
We have sat, rested, grown and been ignited under his leadership/teaching and have also come to love many other individuals and families who feel the same way. We searched and prayed for such a pastor/ministry and church family and we found it!

- Associations
- River Church Roanoke believes strongly in autonomous church organization and structure as found in the scriptures. (1 and 2 Timothy, and Titus.) However, autonomy should never mean 'independent'! The New Testament clearly teaches we are all one Church in Christ and we are to have relationship with other church fellowships of like mind and faith. Likewise, River Church Roanoke believes strongly in the accountability of its leaders to a higher 'covering' or authority. In our understanding of scripture, leaders nor churches, should be without proper oversight and accountability for the sake of its people and the larger kingdom of God. Pastor David Tuell submits fully to the covering of Redemption Ministerial Fellowship International, based in Greenville, SC. This is a Spirit-filled organization with some 1700 hundred churches that desires to see a genuine kingdom move of God upon the earth in our lifetime.
