I am a fellowship trained urogynecologist, a specialist in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS). I specialize in helping women with pelvic floor disorders improve their quality of life and return to the activities they enjoy. Pelvic floor disorders include pelvic organ prolapse, such as cystocele, rectocele, and uterine and vaginal prolapse. I also treat urinary incontinence; fecal incontinence; rectal, vaginal and urinary fistulas; overactive bladder; stress urinary incontinence; and other forms of lower urinary tract dysfunction. My clinical approach is patient-centered,and my goal is to empower patients with an understanding of their condition and treatment options. I provide patients with both information and support to empower them in their decision-making process.I integrate surgical and nonsurgical management, including state-of-the-art, minimally-invasive approaches to treating pelvic organ prolapse, such as robotic, laparoscopic and vaginal approaches.I have specialized training in uterine preservation and, in addition, use nonsurgical approaches, including physical therapy, medication, Botox bladder injections, sacral neuromodulation and posterior tibial nerve stimulation. I offer both mesh and non-mesh treatment approaches to pelvic floor disorders and has extensive experience in urodynamic testing and interpretation.I have a strong commitment to advancing the care of women with pelvic floor disorders through leadership in national organizations, research and teaching of future FPMRS specialists. I have been recognized with teaching awards at the University of North Carolina and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and have published extensive research on improving surgical outcomes and advancing surgical techniques. I mentor trainees and researchers throughout the country through my work with the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) and Society of Gynecologic Surgery (SGS). I chair the Fellows' Pelvic Research Network of SGS/AUGS, which leads multicenter trials to advance the care of women with pelvic floor disorders.
